SERVING SAN FRANCISCO & MARIN COUNTIES

My expertise includes (but is not limited to) baby snuggling, toddler chasing, waffle making, story telling, bike commuting, and answering the question ‘why’… over and over and over.

I live in the foggiest part of San Francisco with my husband, six-year old son, and two-year daughter.

let’s start at the beginning

So how did I begin?

I learned the manual settings on my parents SLR camera when I was 8 years old and haven't put the camera down since. I still dream of the long days spent in the dark room in college. I spent the first part of my career as a graphic designer, before making the switch to focussing on photography full time.

I've been in business photographing bay area families for over 10 years. i specialize in births babies, and families

What I hear when I tell people what I do…

Bird photography?! oh interesting! how’d you get into that?

No. Birth! Like babies emerging

Woahhhhh. How did you get into THAT???

As a photographer my goal is always to capture the authentic moments, the connection between you and your family, what life looks like right now, because it changes so. damn. quick! I want the images I create with you to be a powerful mirror. I want them to let you to see the beauty in your life exactly as it is right now.

In early 2019, I photographed my first birth and I quickly realized the moments leading to and of birth so beautifully me served everything I was always aiming to capture. Pure authenticity. So much raw and real connection. And certainly a powerful moment in time for this family. The images I made that day felt so full of tenderness and strength. They helped this family see the story of that transformative day with a little more clarity, piecing together the timeline, and seeing how it it all unfolded. It allowed them to sit in the immense joy a little longer instead of letting it get lost in a sleep-deprived blur. And it allowed them to sit with the hard parts and process them as well. Their day was nothing short of magnificent, and as their child grows up, they’ll see that as well. They’ll have their own version of the story of course, but they’ll have the photos to accompany it.

Needless to say, I was hooked.

I fell in love with documenting these moments and seeing it all unfold. My passion and artistry felt ignited in a new way! But I didn’t take lightly the enormity of entering these sacred birth spaces, and I wanted to be sure that I was prepared to document all types of birth scenarios with the sensitivity, authenticity, and creativity they deserved. So That Fall I took Birth Becomes You’s Essence of Birth photography training and I’ve continued to be an active member of the Birth Photography Community, participating in continuing education.
